BUNNA SCHOOL is designed by IMAP GmbH and YA COFFEE with funding from the “Sustainability and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains (SUVASE)” project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project aims to increase sustainability in the coffee supply chain.
BUNNA SCHOOL will serve as an accessible digital platform for coffee education and skills development for coffee professionals, SMEs and entrepreneurs entering the coffee industry across the supply and value chains. In doing so, it aims to sustainably support the ongoing reform agenda and benefit the coffee sector in Ethiopia.
After extensive review and implementation of the desired changes, BUNNA SCHOOL was handed over to the Dilla University Coffee Research Center to continue to deliver the three courses and more in the future. The Dilla University Coffee Research Center will continue to expand and update the number of courses offered on this platform.

"The Ethiopian Coffee System"

"The Ethiopian Coffee System":
This beginner-level, self-paced online course is taught in English and takes 48 hours over 18 working days, including an exam. It provides an in-depth exploration of Ethiopia's coffee industry, covering topics such as the country's coffee culture, population dynamics, national development plans and the role of key stakeholders. The fee for the course is $ XXX.
Sensory Analysis: "The Basics of Coffee Cupping"
This beginner level course introduces participants to the art of coffee tasting through a technique called coffee cupping. The course is delivered in a blended format, combining self-paced online learning, a virtual guided class and a face-to-face session in a coffee lab. The online portion is 28 hours over 14 working days, followed by a 2-day face-to-face session. Participants will learn the basics of sensory analysis, cupping protocols for quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and effective communication within the coffee industry. The fee for the course is $ XXX.
“Export Marketing Plan Preparation” course
This entry-level course guides participants through the creation of a personalised export marketing plan. It is designed to help managers understand the international trade environment, explore export opportunities and develop actionable marketing strategies. The self-paced online course, combined with virtual classroom sessions, covers 60 hours over 28 working days. Participants will learn how to design an export plan, use online market research tools and develop a plan tailored to their company's needs. The course fee is $ XXX.
